LESBIAN (US) + REDWOOD HILL
Lesbian was formed on a whim in 2004 for a one-off set at Seattle’s Funhouse by guitarists Arran McInnis and Daniel La Rochelle, bassist/vocalist Dorando Hodous and drummer Benjamin Thomas-Kennedy. Since then, the band has been composing lengthy eclectic journeys that take the listener through myriad genres ranging anywhere from doom to prog to psyche to 70s rock to black metal and beyond. The group has released a full-length on Holy Mountain Records, a split 10” with Ocean on Roadburn Records, a self-released two song tour EP, and a second full-length on Important Records called Stratospheria Cubensis. Their new album Forestelevision is currently in post-production and its expected to be released very soon.
“…..”Stratospheria Cubensis” is an exercise in restraint and purpose for the band as they intelligently fuse style and experimentation. It’s an album brimming with ingenuity, depth and mastery.” – Decibel
“…..you get a smorgasbord of avant-metal mayhem and majesty, with repetitive sludge-bludgeon, speedy attacks, postrock soft-loud dynamics, sharp shredding guitar shards of quirky math metal, mammoth doom riffage, shoegazing melodic pretty parts, and more. It flows, though, how it flows.” – Aquarius Records
