Thulcandra [DE] + Special Guests: Yoth Iria [GR] + Support: Vorga [DE]

  • Spillestedet Stengade 18 Stengade København, 2200 Denmark (map)

Det bliver en mørk aften d. 17 marts når Thulcandra, Yoth Iria og Vorga bringer tre forskellige bud på black metal arten.

Thulcandra:
THULCANDRA’s rise to power ignited when the Germany-based outfit unleashed their debut album, Fallen Angel’s Dominion, upon metaldom in 2010. The group, fronted by founding member and visionary Steffen Kummerer (also of Obscura fame), have tightened their hibernal grip on blackened death metal since. The desolate melodic emanations in follow-up studio records Under a Frozen Sun (2011), Ascension Lost (2015), and the chart-topping, 2021-album A Dying Wish, dedicated to the late bassist Chris Kratzer, solidified THULCANDRA as a superior force, expertly thrusting the magic and mystery of mid-’90s melodic black-death metal into the modern era.

Their fifth attack, entitled Hail the Abyss, sees THULCANDRA prove yet again why they’re atop death metal’s malefic vedette! Fierce tracks such as "As I Walk Through The Gateway", or the uber-brutal "Blood Of Slaves", showcase the band‘s affinity for dark, aggressive, and mellifluous metal while the album title track and the epic, mid-tempo rager "On The Wings Of Cosmic Fire" rip and terrorize with the intensity of hell. As always, THULCANDRA's about a vibe - there's a distinct "feel" to the band's latest album that's distinctly old-school but without the tired trappings of it.

The hotly-anticipated Hail the Abyss is slated for release on May 19, 2023 via Napalm Records. Cooperation with renowned producer Dan Swanö (Dissection, Opeth, Katatonia), who handled the crushing album mix, was compulsory, as was the re invitation to cover-master Lochner. Don’t fear the reaper—fear the majestic might of THULCANDRA, as Hail the Abyss will see them ultimately rise to full power!

+ Special Guests: Yoth Iria
Formed by Jim Mutilator (founding bassist of Rotting Christ and Varathron), Yoth Iria emerged from the depths of Hellenic black-metal tradition to redefine its legacy with renewed fire and vision. Joining him at the dawn of this new chapter was the legendary The Magus (Necromantia, Thou Art Lord, ex-Rotting Christ), whose commanding voice and occult aura helped forge the band’s early identity and sound.

Yoth Iria made their first mark in 2020 with the EP Under His Sway, a dark, majestic release that reawakened the spirit of the early ’90s Greek black-metal scene while infusing it with a modern, ritualistic essence.
In 2021 Yoth Iria unleashed their debut full-length, As the Flame Withers, which was hailed worldwide as a triumphant return of the true Hellenic spirit. The album’s mix of epic melodies, occult lyricism, and spiritual intensity solidified the band’s reputation as one of the genre’s most inspired modern forces.Later, another EP, Flame of the Whirling Swords (October 2023) arrived, further expanding the band’s sonic palette.

The second album, Blazing Inferno (2024, Edge Circle Productions), marked the next evolution of Yoth Iria’s sound — a blazing storm of darkness, melody and esoteric might. With songs like “We Call Upon the Elements”, “In the Tongue of Birds”, and the monumental title track “Blazing Inferno”, the band achieved new creative heights, earning critical acclaim and a devoted international following. This was followed by the stand-alone single Splendour of the Sun, released as part of the split 7″ vinyl "Infernium".

Yoth Iria’s dedication to the craft is also demonstrated by their homage to the past: the single The Wanderer (a cover version of the iconic song by Emperor) was released as a standalone single, showcasing both reverence and reinvention.

On the live front, Yoth Iria captured the intensity of their stage presence with the live album "Embracing the Mexican Shadows", recorded during their Mexico City show in 2023 and released December 2023.
They have shared stages and roared across continents, performing at major festivals such as Hellfest, Alcatraz, Summer Breeze and Party San Open Air. Their live schedule also includes four tours across South America and Mexico — three already completed, with the fourth scheduled for April 2026.

Looking ahead, Yoth Iria are preparing their most ambitious work to date: their upcoming full-length album, set to be released by Metal Blade Records in May 2026. With this release, the band continues their ascent toward spiritual and sonic transcendence, channeling the eternal flame that burns within the heart of Hellenic darkness.

Yoth Iria stands as both a tribute to the origins of Greek black-metal and a force of relentless evolution — a union of past and future, flesh and spirit, fire and void.

+ Support: Vorga
Charting a course into the void since 2016.
Vorgas mission, to capture the feelings of both awe and utter hopelessness when staring up into the night sky.
With members from the UK, Bulgaria, and Germany, the multinational outfit released their first EP, 'Radiant Gloom' in 2019.
After release, they quickly caught the attention of Transcending Obscurity Records, who the band were immediately signed to.
Following up their debut EP, Vorga returned with an absolutely scintillating full length titled ‘Striving Toward Oblivion’ in 2022, which expanded upon the music of their debut and took it to new heights, more powerful and streamlined than before.
On release, the record surpassed all expectations, receiving widespread critical acclaim and making many year-end ‘best of’ lists.
In 2024, 'Beyond the Palest Star' was released. With more nuanced and emotive songwriting and garnering even higher praise than the previous record, Vorga continue to scale astronimical heights and forge new paths for modern, melodic black metal.

Aside from the music, the band has made a name for themselves on stage with their striking depiction of futuristic, dystopian black metal. Adorned in UV corpsepaint and with an atmospheric and compelling light show, the band always leaves a lasting impression on those who see them.
